Hi there.

Well, after plenty of shenanigans I'm now finally in sole control of Smallfish (cue a very large sigh of relief!). And to celebrate there's a veritable wealth of goodies on the website. I'll dive straight in and mention a few of them and allow you to browse the site at your leisure.

Onwards...

The Green Kingdom - Jasmine - Smallfish 3" CDr

I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to bring this sparkling gem of a release to you. Having enjoyed Michael Cottone's music for some time I was really keen to grab some tracks to put out on Smallfish. The end result is simply gorgeous and I think you'll probably agree. It's a delicate, melodic and very beautiful selection of tracks that use guitars and electronics to create a super atmosphere. A slightly oriental lilt to a couple of the tracks adds some spice and the way the pieces flow over and around you is sublime. I've not stopped listening to this since I originally got the tracks last year and it has a timeless quality to it that will see you enjoying it for years to come. Mastered by Taylor Deupree and limited to 100 copies, this is one for fans of 12k, Land Of, Infraction and other such labels. Big thanks to Michael for the chance to release this.

Bvdub - Return To Tonglu - Quietus Recordings CDr

The fourth release from Brock Van Wey's Quietus label is another super-fine slice of atmospheric electronic music. Leaning slightly more to the electronica end of things, yet still keeping a broadly techno style sound, these tracks are incredibly deep, very beautiful and, at times, absolutely heartbreaking. His knack for putting together melancholy chords is in full force here and, coupled with the subtle rhythms and melodic touches, makes for a supremely enjoyable work. Clocking in at 45 minutes it's another limited release. Very definitely recommended!

New Michael Mantra + Big Silentes Restock

Seems like a long, long time ago that the last Silentes release came out, but finally here's a new one and it comes from ambient legend Michael Mantra. Consisting of 5 tracks it's a very melodic work that pays homage to old-school ambient sounds as well as having a slightly more contemporary electronica vibe at times. Flowing, ear-pleasing and actually quite pastoral sounding at times, this is one for those that enjoy a relaxed vibe.

Coupled with that there's a brace of releases on the Silentes Minimal Editions series from Maurizio Bianchi, Aube, Nimh and Quinto Sol. And, to round things out there's a whopping selection of restocks on the label from Rod Modell, Global Systems Silently Moving, Ontayso, Opium, Seele, Michael Mantra and more. Still coming at a very nice price even though the Euro is playing havoc with costs at the moment, so that's a result!

Experimedia Label - In Stock

I'm pleased to introduce the Experimedia label from the USA. Having already been more than active on the netlabel scene, the decision to move into limited physical releases was completely natural and the sounds on offer are really lovely. Featuring Koen Park (otherwise known as Ian Hawgood), label owner Jeremy Bible, Jason Henry, Asymmetrical Head and Illusion Of Safety it's a catalogue of deep electronic music that ranges from sculptural soundscapes and ambient through to more melodic, quirky electronica. I'd recommend checking them out as they're really rather lovely. Beautifully packaged and limited in quantity, this is another label to enjoy.

U-Cover New Releases - In Stock

There's a great selection of recent U-Cover releases on the site at the moment. Featuring Ontayso Versus Remote_, Stabilo, a three way split from Moustache Mountain / Forrest / Ontayso as well as a brand new full length album from Phasen. Ranging from completely minimal drone work (courtesy of me!), deep and melodic electronica and super processed guitar and organic sounds right through to Raster Noton-esque sub-bass heavy tracks. It's a cracking selection and, I believe, there are more new releases on the way very soon!

On a related note there's also a whopper of a restock on the U-Cover back catalogue. Including the Limited CDr label, U-Cover Transparente, the 3" CDr series and the U-Cover 40 releases, there's plenty of stuff to enjoy and if you have any gaps in the old collection, now's a great time to fill them in.

Well, that's plenty to be getting on with but there are some super things coming up soon including the Bvdub 12" on Meanwhile, Quantec's 3rd 12", also on Meanwhile and a fabulous three way split on the new Ghost Sounds imprint featuring Quantec, Deer and Relapxych.0.

Have a great week and take care until next time.

Peace.

Mike.
