Smallfish Mailout 26/09/05

Welcome to another week of quality records and CDs here at Smallfish.

A seriously overwhelming amount of new items have landed over the last =
week and due to a slight technical fault I can't give you the entire =
list in either .html or .text format. Suffice to say that you'll want to =
head on over to http://www.smallfish.co.uk to check out the full =
quantity of goods.

However, selected highlights include:

Various - Small Melodies - Spekk CD In stock now!

I honestly can't recommend this delightful CD enough as it contains some =
of the most lovely and melodic digital minimalism around. With tracks =
from Taylor Deupree, Fenton, Mondii, Stephan Mathieu, Sogar, Oren =
Ambarchi, Tape and many more on offer, you can be assured that the =
quality on offer here is astounding. As far as the artwork goes, Spekk =
have come up with yet another minimal masterpiece complete with gorgeous =
silver printing. Seriously good music for the discerning Electronica =
fan.

Masses of new Minimal Tech gear

Look out for new releases from Perlon, Poker Flat, Mood Music Limited, =
Tuning Spork, Found Sound, Starbaby and more. A little later on there =
will be new releases from Kompakt, Milnor Modern, Raum, Boxer Sport, =
Minimise and other splendid Kompakt-related goods. A stripped-down =
techno fans paradise awaits!

Animal Collective - Grass - Fatcat 7"

A super new single release from the Animal Collective sees them adapting =
their sound once again in the finest of styles. As oddball as their =
other releases but with a slightly more accessible appeal that should =
see it crossing over in a big way and creating a lot of excitement about =
their forthcoming longplayer (which, by the way, is superb!). Limited =
quantities of these are available and once they go we won't be able to =
get them back in.

New Cactus Island 3" due on Friday

Yes, the next in the Residents Association 3" CD series will be dropping =
on Friday and if you've done your homework you'll know it's by =
Digitonal. That's enough to get people frothing at the mouth all over =
the place, I suspect, so I strongly suggest that you pay a great deal of =
attention to our website on Friday to make sure you secure your copy!

New Staalplaat Mort Aux Vaches releases

A busy time for the wonderful Dutch experimentalists over at Staalplaat =
with 4 new Mort Aux Vaches releases this week. Mitchell Akiyama, =
Goodiepal, Tape and Jazzkammer provide good reasons for why this =
long-standing label is still in the tip-top position when it comes to =
avant-garde music. Check them out (and be wowed by their lovely =
packaging) to see what I mean.

I-F presents The Conservatives

Another limited track from the Clone empire, this time on the Viewlexx =
imprint. I-F present The Conservatives is a massive smasher of an =
Italo-Disco track that will be familiar to many when they hear it =
because of the heavy play it has received from all of the Clone DJ's. =
Don't miss out on this as you'll be kicking yourself if you do, even =
though it is a tad on the pricey side.

Fenton restocks

It seems like I say this every week, but we've got some more copies of =
the awesome Fenton (aka Shuttle358) CD back in. An easy contender for =
album of the year it sees Dan Abrams delivering the most sublime of =
guitar tracks gently manipulated to perfection. If you *still* haven't =
checked it out, you simply have to have a listen to it! Go... now... and =
treat yourself.

Quick reminder about Rothko in-store on Thursday

Thought I'd quickly mention our in-store show again as it promises to be =
a good one. Rothko, live at 7.30pm and featuring their new line-up with =
drums and electronics. Should be fantastic. Bring beer and friends and =
enjoy yet more excellent free entertainment at the Fish.

OK, I won't go on too much otherwise you'll all get bored. Like I say =
check out the website and see what tickles your fancy and until next =
week (or the live show, if you come) take good care.

Peace.

The Fish.
